After living in San Francisco for 2 1/2 years and having never been to the Farmers’ Market at the Ferry Building once, I decided I didn’t want to let anymore time pass without checking it out! Yesterday morning I woke up, grabbed my bag & sunglasses and ran down to catch the Muni over to the Ferry Building. Maybe part of the reason I have never gone is because I am not a huge fan of riding the Muni, however in the morning it isn’t too crowded. When I got to the Ferry Building, it was filled with people walking around, enjoying the beautiful, sunny day in the city.
Every Saturday (and some days during the week as well), a large Farmers’ Market is held at the Ferry Building. There is a great variety of organic fruits and vegetables, flowers, as well as freshly baked bread (inside the Ferry Building) and other homemade treats. My favorite part of the day was the samples of dark chocolate coffee toffee being handed out as I walked around – so good!
Another item crossed off of my “San Francisco To-Do List” while I am living in this amazing city!
What did you do with your Saturday?
I love farmers markets! Never been to the one at the ferry building, although next time I’m in SF I should check it out. Looks like you had a wonderful time! Love the pictures – thanks.
Yes I did for sure 🙂
What a great farmers market! I’m so ready for the ones in Chicago to start.
They aren’t year-round? 🙁
I love the Farmers Market at the Ferry Building. I’m from Germany but lived in Oakland for one year as an Au Pair and have been multiple times to this farmers market..I really miss the city. Loved sampling the Peanut Brittle, sooo good :D!
Thanks for your comment, Anne!
Ahhhh gotta love farmer’s markets!
😀
I love the farmer’s market at the Ferry Building. There’s so much to do&see inside and out, and so many great places to snack! If you haven’t done it yet, go to Hog Island Oysters in the Ferry Building and eat outside on the patio – if it’s a nice day it’s a total win, and even if it’s not a nice day and you have to be bundled up, it’s still a total win ’cause the food is great & the views of the bay are gorgeous!
I love the Ferry Building! I was there about a month ago, but just missed the farmers Market! The SF Farmers Market is one of the best in the country! I simply love it! Now I have the urge to go to the city. Hope it’s nice next weekend, maybe I’ll go? Thanks for sharing your SF photos!
I absolutely adore the Farmers Markets, thank you for this insight 😀
Cheers

I love going to Farmer’s markets here in NY… as soon as the weather starts to warm up I’ll be going every weekend. Looks like you had fun!
We went for the first time in September, amazing market that I would have loaded up at if I didn’t have to carry my purchases all over the city for the rest of the day! 😛 I adore farmers markets too and looking forward to our local market starting up again for the summer.
The building it is held in is so pretty. And it looks like you had lovely weather too – such a blue sky. And all the produce looks wonderful – what a great place to shop xx
